Since he was a kid, Matt has been drawn toward exploration, seeking out adventures and opportunities in communities around the globe. Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Matt has spent much time wandering; he has lived as far afield as Haiti, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.
Through his travels, Matt has learned the role that homes play in building neighborhoods and community. When he arrived in Durham, he recognized the care Riverbank takes in revitalizing homes with attention to both community and neighborhood.
Matt’s interest in construction began through volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity in Colorado and Washington, D.C. After moving into a 1923 row house in Washington, D.C., he learned firsthand the challenges and satisfaction of restoring a house. During his time in D.C. he also helped friends and family rehab, upfit, and manage rental properties. As Riverbank’s asset manager, Matt analyzes residential real estate investments and helps clients find single family properties to restore as their own.
In his free time, Matt enjoys exploring North Carolina with his wife and his two children. He gets lost in books, roots for the Durham Bulls, and tries to get outside as much as possible. It is an exciting time in Bull City and he is glad to be here with his family.
